About
the walk:
An introduction to Blairgowrie and the river that runs through it, with a walk up the ‘Knockie’, the local name for Cnoc-ma-Har (hill of the stone). The Knockie is a foothill of the Grampians and sits on the Highland Fault Line. It overlooks the valley of the Lornty where, as a quick look the OS map shows, there is much evidence of prehistoric settlements and agriculture. From the ‘toposcope’ at the summit you will be able to pick out many of the hills that will feature in the Festival. Near the top there is a seat, known in pre-NHS times as the ‘Board of Health’, with fine views of Strathmore; the wide valley to the south.
