About the walk:

This short ‘taster’ walk starts and finishes at the Wellmeadow in the centre of Blairgowrie. After fifteen minutes it reaches open country and the highest point on the route, Gallowbank. This is a peaceful spot overlooking the fields and woods to the south. As the name suggests, however, the site has a grisly history and was presumably chosen so passers-by had a good view of what was hanging up here to remind them of the consequences of lawbreaking!

The walk also takes in Muirton of Ardblair, a scatter of houses on the site of an ancient ‘fermtoun’. These communal farming settlements were the predominant pattern of habitation in Scotland until the agricultural revolution of the 18th century.

Close by is the Darroch or ‘Bluebell’ Wood which, as its name suggests, is thickly carpeted with an intense display of bluebells in Spring.

This is what it is like in Spring!

What a start, ... where is that bus?

Sorry this is a walk!
