About the walk:

Blath Bhalg is the highest point between Pitlochry in Strathtummel and Kirkmichael in Strathardle.

At 641m it is a Graham (for those of you who pay attention to such things). Everyone has heard of Munros (there are 284 of them) and most walkers have heard of Corbetts (220 of these). However, for those wishing to further categorise Scottish hills, we also have: 224 Grahams which are between 610m and 762m, with a drop of 150m all round; and 89 Donalds which are 610m to 762m but lying south of the Highland Boundary fault. In addition there are 1554 Marilyns. These are hills anywhere in the UK which have a drop of 150m or more on all sides. Then there are SubMarilyns …….but enough. Its easy to see where the term ‘anorak’ might have come from, or in our case Goretex!

‘Ticking’ aside it is a good walk with good views and the advantage of  a net height loss of 74m and real ale in Kirkmichael at the end.
