About the walk:
This walk starts and finishes in the very interesting small town of Dunkeld with its mediaeval cathedral, restored 17th century buildings and Thomas Telford bridge (1809) over the Tay. The bridge was the site of several anti-toll riots until it was adopted by the county council in 1869 and the toll gates removed.
We will visit Loch of (the) Lowes where the Scottish Wildlife Trust have a reserve famous for its Ospreys in the summer months. The visitor centre, which is normally closed at this time of year, will be opened specially for us and a talk by a ranger about the local wildlife will be arranged. The Ospreys may have gone but there is still plenty to see around the loch at this time of year.
