About
the walk:
Starting in Birnam at the site of the last remnant of the wood that proved Macbeth's undoing (according to Shakespeare), this walk is an excellent introduction to many of the Heritage Trees at the heart of Perthshire Big Tree Country. The route follows the River Tay and its tributary, the Braan up to the Hermitage. On the way it passes through the hamlet of Inver, birthplace of one of Scotland's finest composers of fiddle tunes and reels, Niel Gow.
